Although photographers have long used manual techniques to alter their images, digital cameras and software applications such as Adobe Photoshop have made this process quicker, easier, and more accessible than ever before.

Whereas Faking It reveals the ways in which photographers — from the 1840s to 1990s — used the tools of their day to manipulate images, After Photoshop: Manipulated Photography in the Digital Age explores how artists use digital technology to alter photographic images in the 21st century.

* This exhibition is organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

“This is definitely a Kansas album. Whether it’s the trademark prog epic The Voyage Of Eight Eighteen, the biting rock of Rhythm In The Spirit, or the mindful ballad The Unsung Heroes, there’s something on his album for every kind of Kansas fan. After years of pent-up creativity, the entire band is proud of The Prelude Implicit.”

Kansas begin a North American tour in September, marking the 40th anniversary of classic album Leftoverture.

Marillion Reveal FEAR Tracklist http://demo.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/marillion-reveal-fear-tracklist/ http://demo.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/marillion-reveal-fear-tracklist/#respond Tue, 12 Jul 2016 03:48:54 +0000 http://main.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/?p=4500 Marillion have revealed the final tracklist for their upcoming 18th album FEAR.

It will feature 17 pieces of music split over five tracks, with the follow-up to 2012’s Sounds That Can Be Made out on September 23.

The band previously said the track New Kings looked at “the ravening beast that capitalism seems to have evolved into,” El Dorado “examined the notion of political entitlement,” and The Leavers, which “examines the impact of life on the road for those constantly waving goodbye.”

Ealier this month, frontman Steve Hogarth explained the thinking behind the album title, saying they’re not trying to offend people needlessly.

He said: “We’ve used ‘FEAR’ as a title with some relish, but only as it shows we haven’t shied away. “It’s said with sadness. There are two basic impulses behind human behaviour – love and fear. All the good stuff comes from love.”

FEAR will be available in CD, LP, special-edition CD, Ultimate Edition box set and digital formats.

Marillion will head out on tour next month, starting in Barcelona, Spain.

New Album From Bastille http://demo.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/new-album-from-bastille-arena-tour/ http://demo.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/new-album-from-bastille-arena-tour/#respond Sat, 09 Jul 2016 03:00:09 +0000 http://main.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/?p=4449 Bastille have announced that they will release their new album, “Wild World”, on 9 September, ahead of an ARENA TOUR in October and November.

“If our first album was about growing up and the anxieties surrounding it, our second is about trying to make sense of the world around you, both as you see it and as it’s presented to you through the media”, says frontman Dan Smith.

Multi-Ethnic group covered in Holi powder lay in grass laughing and looking up and gesturing peace sign to the camera in a park at a Holi festival in the summer

“It’s also about asking questions of the world and of the people in it. We wanted the album to be a bit disorientating – at times extroverted and introverted, light and dark”.

The album’s first single, “Good Greif”, was released last month.

[Review] Seasons Of Your Day http://demo.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/review-season-of-your-day/ http://demo.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/review-season-of-your-day/#respond Fri, 08 Jul 2016 04:51:16 +0000 http://main.lunartheme.com/stevecadey/?p=4437 “Seasons of Your Day,” Mazzy Star’s first album since 1996, reunites the dreampop duo of Hope Sandoval and David Roback. Despite the long hiatus, not much has changed about the group’s sound: The new album highlights Sandoval’s wistful, melancholic vocals and Roback’s shoegazy guitars.

Nothing here is as catchy as the group’s 1993 hit “Fade Into You,” but Mazzy Star was never about churning out the hits. And on “Seasons of Your Day”, the duo picks up where it left off: creating moody, atmospheric music. Album opener “In the Kingdom” picks up with a sultry organ melody and Sandoval’s dreamy vocals, which elevate mundane moments — taking a train, walking outside — to watercolor movie scenes.

The rest of the album follows suit. I’ve Gotta Stop” conveys an ache both from Sandoval’s voice and Roback’s guitar tone, and the duo embraces sparse silences on the expansive “Does Someone Have Your Baby Now?” Sometimes, however, things get a little too dreamy. But even a few shapeless tracks can’t detract from the overall mood. “Seasons of Your Day” holds up beautifully next to Mazzy Star’s three previous albums.
